Choosing by luggage as well as head count
Four adults with four large cases do not fit a saloon comfortably, even though the seats are there. The estate at £81 is a small step up for a much easier boot. Five or six travelling together are usually better off in an MPV6 at £89 than in two separate cars. Seven or eight need the MPV7 or MPV8 — those are the only vehicles that legally seat that many. The price you are quoted is the price you pay: covers the drive, the drop-off, and the driver's time at the airport. The fare does not rise because the A24 was slow.

A traveller who is told to “get the 200” has been told something true twice over and something useful neither time. Always say the company name along with the number when you ask at a stand or a ticket office — the Metrobus 200 in town, and the National Express 200 at Gatwick. The bus fare is capped at £3 and the coach starts at £14.90, so the numbers on the tickets will not match either.
Horsham station opened in February 1848, built by the London Brighton and South Coast Railway. The building standing today went up in 1938 for the Southern Railway. It sits 37 miles 56 chains from London Bridge via Redhill, on the Arun Valley Line and the Sutton and Mole Valley Lines. Southern and Thameslink run the services between them, using Class 377 and Class 700 electric units.

So if you are travelling alone and cost is the deciding factor, the honest answer is not the London train at £58.40. The road itself runs 53.2 miles (85.6 km) from Clapham in south-west London to Worthing, following the Roman Stane Street for part of the way, and it is dual carriageway on the stretch past Southwater.
