610 minutes · aircraft pushes into westerly flow
The Heathrow to Dallas Fort Worth route runs about 4,736 miles / 7,622 km non-stop, in about 10 hours 10 minutes westbound and 9 hours 15 minutes eastbound (flightconnections.com, checked 31 July 2026). Two carriers — American Airlines and British Airways, both Oneworld — operate around 33 westbound and 25 eastbound services a week.
This is a flight guide, not a fare page. We do not sell flights, we are not affiliated with either airline, and we are honest about what we know and what we don't — including the fact that American Airlines' Heathrow terminal allocation has moved at least twice and current sources disagree about where it sits today. What we do sell is a fixed-fare car to the Heathrow terminal your ticket actually names. Last reviewed: 31 July 2026.
Distance, airlines, flight duration, frequency, departure windows, terminals both ends, time difference and aircraft — all sourced. All checked 31 July 2026.

What this page is not
We do not sell flights. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or acting for American Airlines or British Airways. Schedules, fares, baggage rules and terminal allocations are the airlines' to publish and yours to confirm with them directly. This page is a flight guide sitting alongside the ground-transfer service we do sell — a fixed-fare car to the terminal your ticket names.
Both figures are averages of published times, not guaranteed durations. Any given flight can be quicker or slower than either, and both vary with aircraft, routing and season.

Heathrow → Dallas Fort Worth
610 minutes · aircraft pushes into westerly flow
Eastbound · with the jet stream
9h 15m
Dallas Fort Worth → Heathrow
555 minutes · aircraft rides prevailing westerly flow
Why the flight home is shorter
The gap is the jet stream. Eastbound aircraft over the North Atlantic ride the prevailing westerly flow and are pushed along; westbound aircraft push into it and are held back. Fifty-five minutes is a typical average — actual times vary by aircraft, routing and season, and the jet stream itself moves and strengthens through the year.
What the flight time does NOT include
Ten hours 10 minutes is wheels-up to wheels-down. It does not include the three hours Heathrow asks international passengers to allow before departure (heathrow.com, checked 31 July 2026). It also excludes US immigration and customs at Terminal D, and the Skylink ride if you are connecting onwards. Someone who budgets 10h 10m door-to-door has under-planned the day by roughly half.
A passenger who prefers one carrier is not usually forced to change directions to book with them. We do not offer an opinion on which carrier or which aircraft to book — those are matters of personal preference and frequent-flyer status.
Two carriers, both Oneworld
American Airlines and British Airways — both Oneworld alliance members. Their two schedules interleave rather than clash. We are not affiliated with either.
Six aircraft types · all four cabins
Airbus A350-1000, A380-800; Boeing 777-200, 777-300ER, 787-9, 787-10. All four cabin classes available most days — Economy, Premium Economy, Business, First.
The route runs about 33 services a week westbound — roughly 4.7 a day — against about 25 eastbound, roughly 3.6 a day (flightconnections.com, checked 31 July 2026). That is a difference of about eight services a week. It matters more than it looks: an eastbound traveller has materially fewer options, and a missed connection has fewer recovery flights behind it than a westbound one would.
Westbound windows
Heathrow between about 08:20 and 16:55 UK time (flightconnections.com, checked 31 July 2026). Windows, not an individual schedule — confirm your exact time with the airline before you travel.
Eastbound windows
Dallas between about 15:05 and 23:15 local Dallas time (flightconnections.com, checked 31 July 2026). Same principle — durable fact about the route, but this Tuesday's specific 15:20 is not.
The 08:20 anchor
The 08:20 figure at the Heathrow end is the one to remember. Everything commercial on this page descends from it — including the pickup-time arithmetic further down.
Dallas is 6 hours behind the UK year-round. Leave Heathrow at 08:20 and you land at about 12:30 the same day Dallas time — a ten-hour flight that looks on the clock like a four-hour one.
Departure → Landing · computed from published times, flight duration and the 6-hour offset
Every landing time above is computed from the published departure time, the flight duration and the six-hour offset. Every clock time on this page carries its city.
The honest answer is not an airfare table — we do not sell flights, and any figure we published would be stale by the time it was read. What we can tell you is what actually moves the fare on this route, which is more useful than a number that is wrong tomorrow.
Two-carrier structure · limited competitive pressure
The route has two carriers rather than a crowded field. Competitive pressure is limited, and the two schedules interleave rather than undercut each other.
Peak weeks that lift prices
Prices lift around US Thanksgiving, US Christmas and the British school breaks — spring, summer and October half-term.
What matters more than tricks
Booking further out and flying midweek does more than any single trick. The difference between an Economy fare in a low season and one in a peak week is usually larger than the difference between the two carriers on the same day.
Where to get an actual fare
That is as far as we can honestly go. For actual fares, use a flight aggregator or either airline's own site. We do not sell flights.
Every aggregator either states a terminal flatly or omits the question entirely. Both are wrong on this route. This is where our honesty differs — a dated history and an honest instruction beat a confident wrong answer, especially at 05:20 in the morning.
One airline's Heathrow allocation has moved more than once, and current published sources still disagree about where it sits today. Our fare is the same to any of Heathrow's four terminals — that is one detail we can lock down for you regardless of what your boarding pass eventually says.
British Airways operates its Heathrow flights principally from Terminal 5, using the 5B and 5C satellites. Some departures are moved to Terminal 3 because of capacity constraints (simpleflying.com, checked 31 July 2026).
Two load-bearing words: "principally" and "some". The exception is the part that catches people out. If your boarding pass says Terminal 5, expect the 5B or 5C satellite. If it says Terminal 3, that is the reallocation the sentence above warns about — you are in the right place, and it does not change the airline you are flying with.
American Airlines at Heathrow · three recorded positions · we do NOT publish a current one
We are not printing a current terminal for American Airlines on this route. The allocation has changed at least twice, it has been route-dependent, and it has been seasonal. Current sources contradict each other.
The instruction that replaces a stated allocation
Read the terminal off your own boarding pass or airline confirmation. Tell us which one when you book. We go to the terminal on your ticket, not the one your airline used last year.
The DFW allocation is more stable than the Heathrow end, but we still cite the source and the check date. Confirm your own terminal against the airline's own site before you travel.
Five terminals · Terminal D is international
DFW has five terminals: A, B, C, D and E (upgradedpoints.com, checked 31 July 2026). Terminal D is the international terminal and handles most arriving international traffic — so if you are flying in from Heathrow, it is where you clear US immigration and customs.
British Airways uses Terminal D. American Airlines occupies Terminals A, B and C exclusively, and also operates from the shared Terminals D and E.
Skylink · free · after security · 24/7 · every 2 minutes
The Skylink train connects all five terminals after security. Free. 24 hours a day. Departs about every two minutes (upgradedpoints.com, checked 31 July 2026). "After security" is the important part — you do not have to leave and re-clear if you are connecting to another airline within the same DFW airside.
A traveller who books ground transport at the Dallas end expecting Love Field has booked to the wrong side of a large city, and no flight aggregator will warn them.
Fort Worth is not a separate airport
Dallas and Fort Worth are separate cities about thirty miles apart, and Dallas Fort Worth International sits between them and is named after both. It serves Fort Worth as much as it serves Dallas. If you searched for "Heathrow to Fort Worth" and landed here, DFW is your airport.
Dallas Love Field (DAL) is not an option from the UK
Love Field is the other Dallas airport, closer to downtown. Love Field is limited to non-stop domestic flights and about 20 gates. It is not equipped for the large aircraft used on transatlantic routes, and only Southwest, Delta and Alaska serve it (simpleflying.com and congress.gov, checked 31 July 2026).
The rule that closes the question
There is no non-stop service between the United Kingdom and Dallas Love Field, and there cannot be one under the current restrictions. Every Heathrow flight to the Dallas Fort Worth area lands at DFW.
The earliest Heathrow-to-Dallas departure of the day is about 08:20. Heathrow asks international passengers to arrive three hours before departure. That means you need to be at the terminal by 05:20, and a car on your drive at the times below.
08:20 flight · 05:20 at terminal · car on drive at ↓
Every clock time is UK time and every one is computed from three numbers: the 08:20 departure, Heathrow's own three-hour international arrival recommendation, and the drive band. If the departure window moves at our next schedule check, this table will be regenerated rather than patched.
Earlier than the first train of the day
The times in the "car on your drive" column are earlier than the first train of the day in most of the country. So if you have been assuming rail is an option to Heathrow for a 06:00 pickup, it is not.
Airport hotel with parking · a genuine alternative
An overnight airport hotel with parking is a real alternative to a pre-dawn drive. It removes the drive altogether and lets you sleep an hour closer to the terminal. It is a genuine substitute, not a competitor to complain about.
Transatlantic parties travel with transatlantic luggage. That, not the head count, is usually what decides the vehicle. A saloon seats four but takes three large cases — so four people with four large cases fit on the seats and do not fit in the boot.
| Party size | Large cases | Smallest class that genuinely fits | Seats · cases |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 person | 1 large case | Saloon | 4 seats · 3 cases |
| 2 people | 2 large cases | Saloon | 4 seats · 3 cases |
| 2 people | 3 large cases | Saloon | 4 seats · 3 cases |
| 3 people | 3 large cases | Saloon | 4 seats · 3 cases |
| 4 people | 4 large cases | Estate — not Saloon | 5 seats · 4 cases · the row that catches people out |
| 5 people | 5 large cases | MPV6 | 6 seats · 5 cases |
| 6 people | 6 large cases | MPV7 | 7 seats · confirm at booking |
| 7 people | 7 large cases | MPV7 | 7 seats · confirm at booking |
| 8 people | 8 large cases | MPV8 · 8-seater | 8 seats · confirm at booking |
The row highlighted is worth spending an extra thirty seconds on at booking. Being in the right vehicle is not a comfort question on a 04:20 pickup — it is a "will the cases fit" question, and getting it wrong at that hour is a missed flight. For parties above eight, we run larger minibuses — see the minibus fleet.
Every corridor page on our site shows a fixed fare from a specific origin to a specific terminal. This page shows none, and it deserves an explanation.
The honest reason
The reason is simple. Everything the reader asks on this page — Heathrow to Dallas Fort Worth, flight time, which airlines, which terminal — is a flight question. None of them contains a UK origin. Without an origin there is no distance, and without a distance there is no fare. Choosing a representative origin to publish a number would be inventing the one input the page does not have.
What we can publish is the structure of our fare — a fact about our service rather than a guess about a journey. Eight vehicle classes. Each has a minimum fare covering the first five miles. Beyond that, a per-mile rate applies. For a quote against your own postcode, see our Heathrow taxi prices page.

Transatlantic luggage is the deciding factor. Child and booster seats are free when requested in advance. Flight cases, folded wheelchairs and pushchairs all travel — declare at booking. Book your inbound transfer with your flight number and the pickup moves to your actual landing time automatically.
