A Hatfield to Heathrow transfer with Stansted Airport Taxi is a chauffeur-driven, TfL-licensed private-hire journey of 32 road miles. It runs door to door, from any AL9 or AL10 postcode to any terminal. The fixed saloon fare is £65.10.

This is the only route where no National Express coach runs the pair, and the only direct bus stops short of Terminal 4. Three transport modes compete. The figures behind each sit further down this page, in full.

The whole corridor on one screen

The Arriva 724 bus is cheaper at solo travel. But it is two hours eighteen minutes, does not serve Terminal 4, and finishes at 23:59. Rail to King's Cross costs from £18.90, though the change is Finsbury Park, not King's Cross (London Drum, Trainline, July 2026; verify).

Three genuine options, one 32-mile corridor

Three Ways to Reach Heathrow from Hatfield — Here Is Which One This Page Is About

Most people on this corridor weigh up modes before booking. So the comparison comes first, the prices second.

Three products serve Hatfield to Heathrow. The bus is the cheapest for a solo traveller with hand luggage. Rail requires a change at Finsbury Park. A private hire arrives at the terminal door, any hour, to any terminal.

The bus

Arriva 724 from Hatfield to Heathrow Terminal 5

The Arriva 724 is the only direct bus between Hatfield and Heathrow. We are a TfL-licensed private-hire operator. We collect from an AL9 or AL10 door and set down at a Heathrow terminal door. 45–60 minutes off-peak, any terminal, any hour. We are not a bus or rail company.

All four terminals

Which Terminal, and How Each Mode Reaches It

Heathrow has four working terminals. Not every mode serves all four.

Terminal service summary across transport modes
Terminal Typical Airlines Piccadilly Line Arriva 724 Bus Our Taxi
Terminal 2 Star Alliance Yes, direct No, use T5 + transfer £65.10
Terminal 3 Oneworld, others Yes, direct No, use T5 + transfer £65.10
Terminal 4 SkyTeam Yes, on loop No — withdrawn 2008 £65.10
Terminal 5 British Airways, Iberia Yes, branch line Yes, Stop 8 £65.10

Terminal 4 is the critical gap. The Arriva 724 was withdrawn from T4 in 2008, so a T4 passenger ends a 2h18 bus ride with an inter-terminal transfer. Our fare is the same £65.10 to all four terminals.

Going both ways

Heathrow to Hatfield: The Return Leg

Same fixed fare in reverse. £65.10 saloon, any terminal to any AL9 or AL10 address. Meet and greet included on arrivals.

Meet and Greet in Arrivals

Your driver waits inside arrivals at Terminal 2, 3, 4 or 5 with a name board. We time the pickup from the actual landing rather than the schedule. Free waiting runs 45–60 minutes after you land.

University Term Runs and Late Arrivals

The University of Hertfordshire generates more Hatfield to Heathrow transfers than anything else in the town. Four students sharing a saloon from Hatfield pay £16.28 a head — half a single Trainline ticket. End-of-term arrivals after the 724 stops (before 06:00) are where the car wins.

Questions answered

Hatfield to Heathrow — Frequently Asked Questions

Q
How much is a taxi from Hatfield to Heathrow?
A
A saloon is £65.10, computed at 32 road miles from one rate card. We fix it at booking, and it is the same to any terminal. An MPV8 is £84.63 and an Executive MPV £98.70.
Q
Is there a National Express coach from Hatfield to Heathrow?
A
No. One National Express service calls at Hatfield — The Galleria, Cavendish Way, Stop A. That is route 737 between Stansted Airport and Oxford. It does not serve Heathrow.
Q
Does the 724 bus go to Heathrow Terminal 4?
A
No. Arriva's 724 calls at Heathrow Central Bus Station and Terminal 5, Stop 8. It stops nowhere else on the airport. So a Terminal 4 passenger finishes with an inter-terminal transfer.
Q
How long does the 724 take from Hatfield to Heathrow?
A
About 2h18. The 724 runs an orbital west through Rickmansworth, Denham and Uxbridge, rather than the 32 road miles a car takes.
Q
Is there a direct train from Hatfield to Heathrow, and where do I change?
A
No direct train. Take Great Northern from Hatfield to Finsbury Park, not King's Cross. Then take the Piccadilly line direct to Terminals 2 & 3, 4 and 5 in 64 minutes.
Q
How far is Hatfield from Heathrow by road?
A
About 32 road miles via A1(M) Junction 3, South Mimms, M25 Junction 23 anticlockwise and Junction 15 or 14. Published figures span 23 to 35 miles because Trainline's 23 is rail and Rome2Rio prints 31.9 and 34.9.
Q
Which A1(M) junction is Hatfield, and which way round the M25?
A
Junction 3 for the town centre and university. Then through the Hatfield Tunnel to South Mimms and the M25 at Junction 23. Anticlockwise from there, since junction numbers ascend clockwise.
Q
Do you collect from the University of Hertfordshire campuses?
A
Yes — both campuses and every AL9 and AL10 address. College Lane is AL10 9AB, de Havilland Mosquito Way is AL10 9EU. Four students sharing a saloon pay £16.28 a head.
Q
What happens if my flight into Heathrow lands late?
A
We track the inbound flight against actual landing time, so a delay moves your Heathrow to Hatfield pickup. You then have 45–60 minutes of free waiting from touchdown.
Q
Can you take eight passengers and eight cases from Hatfield in one vehicle?
A
Eight passengers: an MPV8 over 32 miles is £84.63, or £10.58 a head. Eight large cases is harder because an MPV8 holds around six; 8–16 seaters are quoted on request.
