Two towns share the name Ashford. Ours run about 71 road miles apart, and a saloon fare between them differs by £84. So before we quote you anything, we ask which town you mean — because on this journey the answer decides everything else.

Ashford in Kent to Heathrow is about 71 miles, around 1h 45m clear, fixed from £123 in a saloon. Ashford in Surrey to Heathrow is about 6.5 miles, around 15 minutes, fixed from £39 in a saloon. Same fleet, same rate card, same driver standard — different journey, different fare, different advice. All four terminals covered from either town at the same fixed price, both directions, 24/7. Which Ashford Do You Mean? Two Towns, 64.5 Road Miles Apart

We cover both. The Kent one is a Borough of Ashford town of 83,213 people across TN23-TN27, ~61 miles south-east of central London and ~71 road miles from Heathrow. The Surrey one is a Spelthorne town of 27,382 people at TW15, ~2.5 miles from the airport's northern edge and ~6.5 road miles from the terminals.

They are 64.5 road miles apart. The name is identical; the journey is not. Here is what that looks like on our published rate card, side by side.

Ashford International is a station, not a third town

We get asked this often enough to put it high on the page. Ashford International is the Kent town's own railway station — six platforms, south-east of the town centre. It is not a separate settlement, and every search phrased "Ashford International to Heathrow" belongs on the Kent side of this page. The station name still carries the "International" label; the international service does not. We explain what that means for a Heathrow traveller in the rail section below.

Rail: what the itinerary really is

Ashford International to Heathrow requires 2 changes. Fastest booked itinerary: ~1h 39m. Typical: 2h 37m. ~95 services a day between 04:10 and 22:30 on Southeastern, Thameslink and Heathrow Express. Through fare from ~£33.30 advance (Trainline / National Rail, checked 31 July 2026).

The 38-minute St Pancras International figure · what it is and isn't

38 minutes is the high-speed run from Ashford International to St Pancras International on HS1 (Southeastern). It is not the journey time to Heathrow. A traveller who plans a Heathrow departure around the 38-minute St Pancras International figure misses the flight. The onward Elizabeth line leg from £13.90 one way runs 6 trains/hour to T2/T3, 4/hour to T4 and 2/hour to T5.

Eurostar and Ashford International · what changed and what has not

Eurostar has not called at Ashford International since September 2020 and told the BBC on 30 October 2025 there is "no short-term prospect" of re-opening. On the same day the Office of Rail and Road ruled that Temple Mills International depot has capacity for a rival cross-Channel operator, and Virgin's Sir Richard Branson said that decision would let Virgin launch international services from 2030 — but the ruling does not oblige any operator to call at Ashford International (BBC News and Kent Online, 30 October 2025, checked 31 July 2026). The station retains the "International" name, and its HS1 domestic service.

Common Questions About Ashford and Heathrow Transfers

Six of the fourteen answers are the ones a competing page skips. The three most likely to matter: which Ashford, the 38-minute St Pancras International hazard, and whether a coach even runs from Kent.

Which Ashford do you cover — the one in Kent or the one in Surrey?

Both, and we price them separately because they are 64.5 road miles apart. Kent (TN23–TN27) is about 71 miles and £123 in a saloon; Surrey (TW15) is about 6.5 miles and £39 in a saloon. We settle which is yours on your full postcode at booking.

How much is a taxi from Ashford in Kent to Heathrow?

£123 in a saloon, up to £188 in an Executive MPV. The fare is fixed before you travel, all four terminals at the same price, both directions, and it includes the £7 Heathrow forecourt drop-off. Fares are indicative and confirmed at booking via our fare calculator.

How much is a taxi from Ashford in Surrey to Heathrow?

£39 in a saloon, up to £52 in an Executive MPV — an entirely different journey at 6.5 miles rather than 71. All four terminals at the same price, both directions, £7 Heathrow drop-off included. Fares are indicative and confirmed at booking via our fare calculator.

How far is Ashford from Heathrow Airport?

Two answers, because there are two Ashfords. From the Kent town it is about 71 road miles by M20, M26, M25 and M4. From the Surrey town it is about 6.5 road miles.

Is there a direct train from Ashford International to Heathrow?

No. The quickest itinerary is about 1 hour 39 minutes with two changes; a typical journey averages 2 hours 37 minutes; and around 95 services a day run on Southeastern, Thameslink and Heathrow Express between 04:10 and 22:30 (checked 31 July 2026).

Is the 38-minute Ashford International to St Pancras International figure the journey time to Heathrow?

No. 38 minutes is the high-speed run from Ashford International to St Pancras International on HS1 — not to Heathrow (Southeastern, checked 31 July 2026). The full journey on to the airport takes two changes and about 2 hours 37 minutes typical, with the fastest booked itinerary at 1 hour 39 minutes. A traveller who plans a Heathrow departure around the 38-minute St Pancras International figure misses the flight.

Is the train or a taxi cheaper from Ashford in Kent to Heathrow?

The train up to 3 travellers; our car from 4. At three people the train is £99.90 against our £123 saloon — the train wins by £23.10. At four people the train is £133.20 against £123 — our car wins by £10.20. Both halves of that answer are on this page.

Is there a bus from Ashford in Surrey to Heathrow?

Yes — route 555 (White Bus Services), £3.00 single under the national fare cap. It serves Heathrow Terminal 4 and Hatton Cross, and it does not serve Terminals 2 and 3 or Terminal 5 (operator timetable, checked 31 July 2026). It is cheaper than our car at every party size from one to eight.

Is there a coach from Ashford in Kent to Heathrow?

Not directly. There is no direct National Express coach between Ashford in Kent and Heathrow — the booking engine routes you via London Victoria Coach Station, which takes 2 hours 37 minutes to 3 hours 29 minutes (checked 31 July 2026).

Does Eurostar still stop at Ashford International?

No. Eurostar has not called at Ashford International since September 2020 and has said there is no short-term prospect of re-opening (BBC News, checked 31 July 2026). A rival operator won depot access in October 2025 and has proposed international services from 2030, but the regulator's ruling does not oblige it to serve Ashford (Kent Online, 30 October 2025, checked 31 July 2026). The station retains its "International" name and its HS1 domestic service.

Do you cover all four Heathrow terminals?

Yes — Terminal 2, Terminal 3, Terminal 4 and Terminal 5, both corridors, both directions. Our fixed fare does not change with the terminal. Tell us which one at booking so the driver waits in the right place.

Do you use the Dartford Crossing?

No — neither of our Ashford-to-Heathrow routes crosses the Thames. Our Kent routing uses the M26 to bypass central London and joins the M25 clockwise at Junction 5. Our Surrey routing is entirely west-side. Neither fare carries a crossing charge.

What time should I leave Ashford in Kent for a Heathrow flight?

Work back from check-in closing and allow 1 hour 45 minutes clear or 2 hours 15 minutes to 3 hours in the weekday peak, plus a buffer. For a 06:00 long-haul departure that means a pickup between 01:15 and 01:30. Pre-05:00 pickups are ordinary work for us and there is no night uplift on our fixed fare.

Which Ashford areas do you collect from?

In Kent: Kennington, Willesborough, Bockhanger, Sevington, Singleton, Great Chart, Bybrook, Godinton, Kingsnorth, Park Farm, Stanhope and South Ashford — across TN23, TN24, TN25, TN26 and TN27, out to Charing, Wye, Tenterden and the Romney Marsh fringe. In Surrey: Ashford Common, Ashford Town, Clockhouse, Stanwell and the Ashford Hospital side of Feltham — across TW15, reaching Staines-upon-Thames, Shepperton and Sunbury on the same basis.
