Answered so each stands alone, and mirrored verbatim in this page's FAQ schema.
Do you offer 12-seater self-drive minibus hire?
No. Every hire from Stansted Airport Taxi includes a licensed, DBS-checked driver; we are a TfL-licensed chauffeur operator, not a van-rental company. Self-drive rental does exist elsewhere — but under GOV.UK minibus rules most post-1997 car licences cannot legally drive a 12-seater anyway, so a driver-included booking removes the licence problem entirely.
How much does it cost to hire a 12-seater minibus with a driver?
You pay one fixed quote agreed in writing before travel — no meter, no surge. For context from our published rate card, 12 passengers split across two MPV6 taxis costs £168.00 from central London to Stansted, about £14.00 a head; the single-minibus figure covers everyone in one vehicle.
What licence do you need to drive a 12-seater minibus?
Usually more than a standard car licence gives you: a 12-seater needs D1 entitlement, which most licences issued after 1 January 1997 lack, and driving for hire or reward is stricter again. Check GOV.UK's 'Driving a minibus' guidance against your own licence. Book with our driver included and the question disappears.
Are your 12-seater minibuses automatic?
Transmission never touches your journey, because your driver does all the driving — the 'automatic' question usually comes from self-drive searchers, and we are with-driver only. What is guaranteed: a modern, air-conditioned, ULEZ-compliant minibus with a professional chauffeur at the wheel.
How much luggage fits alongside 12 passengers?
We publish real figures — hold cases plus cabin bags — confirmed at booking rather than described with vague 'ample space' wording. For luggage-heavy airport groups, tell us your bag count at booking and we confirm in writing whether everything fits or a larger arrangement is needed.
How does a group of 12 find the driver at the airport?
One driver, one name board, one WhatsApp thread. We track your flight, wait free for 60 minutes after landing, and meet you in the arrivals hall at Stansted, Heathrow, Gatwick, Luton, London City or Southend. Your whole group walks out together and leaves in a single vehicle.
Is one minibus cheaper than two taxis?
Often comparable, always simpler. Two MPV6s from central London to Heathrow compute to £105.00 on our published card — about £8.75 a head — and the 12-seater minibus quote is one written figure benchmarked against that maths on this page. One vehicle also means one pickup time, one driver and nobody split up.
Do you cover my area, or only London?
Our licence and base are London, and pre-booked work runs nationwide: long-distance one-ways, event shuttles and airport transfers across the South East daily. We claim no local branches — for a journey that starts and ends far from our patch, an established local firm suits you better.
Can we book the minibus for a wedding, stag do or corporate event with several pickups?
Yes. Multi-stop pickups, on-site waiting and late-night returns are all priced into one fixed figure before you confirm, and the driver follows your agreed itinerary throughout. Weddings, corporate shuttles, stag and hen weekends and match days are exactly the work a 12-seater minibus with driver exists to do.
Are child seats available in a 12-seater minibus?
Child and booster seats are free on request across our fleet. Give us the children's ages when you book and we confirm in writing exactly what will be fitted — belted, age-appropriate seating comes first under both private-hire rules and our own policy.
