Old Church of St. Lawrence-
The modest St. Lawrence, Old Church, was probably built in the thirteenth century. It is located in the Undercliff, west of Ventnor, on a hill. My mother goes to church every week. This Sunday she asks me to go with her. She usually goes there by cab. So I booked company cab to Old Church of St. Lawrence .
The driver arrived on time. My mother is a patient of an orthopedist and sometimes it is difficult for her to walk. I told the customer service team of company for a wheelchair-friendly cab and they provided us with that. When I told my mother that she can go in a wheelchair she became happy as she always goes without a wheelchair as most cabs do not provide wheelchair-friendly cabs and it became difficult for her to walk to the cab. So this time I took her to a wheelchair. She was very impressed by this facility of a cab company. We reached the church on time and we offered a prayer. It was a good experience with the service and my mother told me that she will use this service from onwards.
Before the chancel was erected in 1842, the church was just a plain rectangle. The nave has windows from various eras and a coved ceiling. A blocked north doorway is contained within an internal frame with a segmented top and is simply moulded. The antique hat pegs and the pews are still there. On the west wall is a 1663-dated royal coat of arms that was repainted in 1926.lovely, serene, and historical and undoubtedly not everyone's cup of tea, but it is still well worth 30 minutes for everyone to pause and consider the past.
A peaceful place:
The remarkable church of St. Lawrence, built-in 1878 in Ventnor, was designed by Sir George Gilbert Scott. Since the church was established, the inside has not undergone much change.
The majority of the Morris & Co.-made stained glass windows were created around 1873. They had previously been residing in the chapel of the nearby Royal National Hospital for Diseases of the Chest. Ventnor was to the northeast of this location. After the hospital was destroyed in 1974, the glass was moved to the cathedral. A lovely little church that is practically only big enough for one person to enter at a time. A lovely and serene cemetery with plenty of flowers and chirping birds surrounds the church; in between the trees, you can glimpse the sea. Parking is very limited and you have to park on the main road very close to the stone wall.
On the approach to Monks Bay at Ventnor, the area is lovely and serene. really old. the Christmas decorations. It appeared that Christmas carols had been held there, which must have been delightful. If you are nearby St. Lawence Ventnor, you must go. It's so brisk and rich in history that it's like travelling through time! Try to locate it; it's a tiny hidden gem that is still in operation on Sundays. I hardly go to church but after going there I felt so peaceful so I decided to go with my mother every Sunday there.
